Sample Set Lists File

As mentioned previously, you should save the formatted set list files on your own computer so that you can later cut and past them into the Power Users page. This will save you the trouble of having to type them in again and again. Following is an excerpt of the set list files which Steve and I have saved on our computers to easily reuse with this software.

The set lists are stored in a simple textual fashion. The following examples all pertain to regular cassette tapes (DATs work similarly). This information is meant to show you what you need to type into the Set List Window in the Label maker web page.

The set lists follow a simple pattern:

Band Name - City/Title - Date
# tapes
Venue or other information [optional]
Taping Equipment [optional]
_
Set List (using the special formatting on the previous page)

# (this is only needed if you are creating more than one label at a time. it tells the program that another label description is coming after the # sign)

The date field, venue information, and taping equipment are optional. If something is entered for Venue Information, "Recorded at" is tacked onto the beginning of what you type.

Here are some examples (copy these into the set list window on the power users page to see how they turn out):

Sample 1 - One Cassette, One Source - Note the | character denotes the side break

The Black Crowes - Milwaukee, WI - 5/18/91
1 tape
_
Twice As Hard/ Thick 'n' Thin/ You're Wrong/ Stare It Cold/ Seeing
Things/ Sister Luck/ Hard to Handle/ Thorn in My Pride| Shake Em On
Down/ Get Back-> Walk With Jesus/ She Talks to Angels/ Dreams/Boomer's
Story/ Jealous Again

Sample 2 - One Source on Two Cassettes - Note | character still denotes all side breaks! (This tape has a blank "fourth side" - see below for how to add filler to it)
Bruce Hornsby - Pittsburgh, PA 5/17/96
2 Tapes
_
The Way It Is/Spider Fingers/Rainbow's Cadillac ->Franklin's Tower tease ->
Amen/Stranded on Easy Street|China Doll/Fields of Gray/Under the Boardwalk/
Loser tease ->Scarlet Begonias|Big Rumble/Every Little Kiss/Changes/Western
Skyline->That Would Be Something->When I Paint My Masterpiece/White Wheeled
Limousine ->Mr. Peace/Walk in the Sun/Carry the Water

Sample 3 - Printing more than one source at a time - # symbol denotes additional sources
Copy entire text from "The Black Crowes" through "Carry the Water" into set list window for an example

The Black Crowes - Milwaukee, WI - 5/18/91
1 tape
_
Twice As Hard/ Thick 'n' Thin/ You're Wrong/ Stare It Cold/ Seeing

Note: you can enter set lists for up to 10 labels at a time, not just 2
Sample 4 - MIX tapes - word "mix" is on #of tapes line
This feature will print both the song title and Band Name on each line of the tape

SLOW IT DOWN VOLUME #7 - PITTSBURGH MIX 3/11/98
1 mix
IRWIN STUDIOS
_
What's going on/Marvin Gaye/Low Light/PJ/Meet me half way/Kenny Loggins

Note that this feature could also be used to show song lengths:

Led Zeppelin - Pittsburgh, PA - 3/1/98
1 mix
Civic Arena
_
Rock n Roll/3:30/Celebration Day/3:00|Stairway to Heaven/12:00/Whole Lotta
Love/10:00

Sample 5 - Filler on blank sides
This feature will let you fill up empty sides of tapes (see Hornsby example above for a comparison) by using the + sign to denote filler

Loser tease ->Scarlet Begonias|Big Rumble/Every Little Kiss/Changes/Western
Skyline->That Would Be Something->When I Paint My Masterpiece/White Wheeled
Limousine ->Mr. Peace/Walk in the Sun/Carry the Water

+
Led Zeppelin - Pittsburgh, PA - 3/1/98
1 tape
Civic Arena
_
Rock n Roll/Celebration Day/Stairway to Heaven/Whole Lotta Love

Sample 6 - Using top and bottom flaps (by using _ delimiters to denote "flap breaks")
This feature lets you fill up the previously empty flaps of the labels with set lists or other information. This is helpful when your tapes have many songs on each side, and the text becomes too small to easily read. Consider this before and after example:

Bruce Hornsby - Pittsburgh, PA 5/17/96
1 Tape
_
The Way It Is/Spider Fingers/Rainbow's Cadillac ->Franklin's Tower tease ->
Amen/Stranded on Easy Street/China Doll/Fields of Gray/Under the Boardwalk/
Loser tease ->Scarlet Begonias|Big Rumble/Every Little Kiss/Changes/Western
Skyline->That Would Be Something->When I Paint My Masterpiece/White Wheeled
Limousine ->Mr. Peace/Walk in the Sun/Carry the Water

#

Bruce Hornsby - Pittsburgh, PA 5/17/96
1 Tape
_
The Way It Is/Spider Fingers/Rainbow's Cadillac ->Franklin's Tower tease->Amen|
Big Rumble/Every Little Kiss/Changes/Western Skyline->That Would Be Something->
When I Paint My Masterpiece
_
Stranded on Easy Street/China Doll/Fields of Gray/Under the Boardwalk/
Loser tease ->Scarlet Begonias|White Wheeled Limousine ->Mr. Peace/
Walk in the Sun/Carry the Water

Note that you could also use this feature to put other information in the bottom flap, such as the band members (this also shows how you can use only the left column on the bottom flap):
Led Zeppelin - Pittsburgh, PA - 3/1/98
1 tape
Civic Arena
_
Rock n Roll/Celebration Day/Stairway to Heaven/Whole Lotta Love
_
Plant - Vocals
Page - Guitar
Jones - Bass
Bonham - Drums

Sample 7 - Using these features together!
Example: You can enter both filler and information on the bottom flap

Dave Matthews Band - Pittsburgh, PA - 3/5/95
1 Tape
The AJ Palumbo Center
TCD-D7: Core Sound Mics
_
Recently/Transition Breakdown/Lie In Our Graves/Dancing Nancies/

+
Billy Joel - Syracuse, NY - 11/13/93
1 Tape
Carrier Dome
_
No Man's Land/Pressure/Lullabye/Piano Man

Note: See the previous page for help about entering set lists.

An italics option is available. Any song title can italicized, by surrounding the title with bracets,{}.

NOTE about DAT tapes: The set list format was originally used with analog tapes. The same set list can be used for both a 3 hour DAT tape and 2 90 minute analog tapes. When the DAT tape labels are chosen, half of the song titles are printed on the left hand side of the label. And the other half is printed on the right hand side. Also all DAT set lists are assumed to be only one tape long.
